Corporate Culture Jam 2019: Purpose! Pure or pose?

von Karin Krobath • Wednesday, 13. February 2019

Everyone wants purpose – but how “pure” is it and how much “pose” is behind it?

I just came back from a wonderful trip to the Antarctica. It was about many ecological questions, but also about polar history. The race for the North and South Pole at the beginning of the 20th century inspired different explorers and kept whole nations in suspense. It was the honor of the first that counted – only possible with “pure” passion. The stories are gripping, tragic, some twists simply unbelievable.

And there is quite a lot of ´Pose´ in this purpose, because without a good portion of male narcissism, heroic deeds like this don’t happen. Or do they?

Same setting, different story

Ida Olsson joined the Women’s Euro-Arabian north pole Expedition last April as co-expedition leader. The purpose here: Dialogue instead of rivalry, empowerment instead of power out. 12 Arab and European women wanted to experience it together: 10 of them without any expedition experience, half without ski knowledge, some under hard-won permission of male family members. After 2.5 years of preparation – and the stories are just as gripping, tragic and unbelievable – they achieve their common goal as a team.

Purpose: Pure? Or Pose?

That’s the title of this year’s Corporate Culture Jam, which will take place on 21st and 22nd May at the Brotfabrik. We are currently negotiating with Ida Olsson and hope that she or another of the north pole participants can be there. You can see what else is on the agenda here.
